About Srimad Bhagavatam

Srimad Bhagavatam, often referred to simply as the Bhagavatam, is one of the most revered and comprehensive texts in Hindu philosophy and literature.

This ancient scripture is part of the Puranas, a genre of sacred texts in Hinduism, and belongs to the Bhakti (devotional) tradition. Comprising 18,000 verses in 335 chapters spread across twelve books, Srimad Bhagavatam narrates the stories of various incarnations of Lord Vishnu, emphasizing devotion (bhakti) as the primary means to attain spiritual realization and liberation (moksha). The text covers a wide range of topics, including cosmology, cosmogony (origin of the universe), genealogies of kings, legends of great sages, and the philosophical discourse between Sages and the Divine.

The heart is the way to attaining the Supreme Being.

In Sri M’s words:

“Bhagavat Saptah…It’s a joyous occasion. It will not be an intellectual exercise; it will be a storytelling session, describing certain features of the Supreme Being, and with these stories, one begins to understand the highest philosophy possible without even attempting to do so deliberately.”

“Bhagavat is talking from the heart. Personally, I would say that the heart is the way, not the brain.”
